Hot, Hot, Hot!
Hot, Hot, Hot!
Getting tested for allergies by a doctor can be very intrusive with blood test and other various measures. However there is a new instrument, touted by WTAE in Pittburgh, that might be a great alternative to the pinch of a needle.
There is actually a machine that can test the temperature of one's face and determine whether or not one has allergies. Sounds crazy right?

I came across on article that outlines some pretty good ideas for non-drug alternatives for keeping this fall season allergy-free (or at least prevent more suffering than is necessary).

Falling Into Autumn
Falling Into Autumn
Well, summer is almost over for most of us and fall is just around the corner. With the cooling temperatures and falling leaves, new allergic reactions are coming to the forefront.
- People with hay fever miss 3.8 million days of work and school each year.
- More than one-third of allergy sufferers said hay fever decreases their work effectiveness.
- 80 percent of patients with seasonal allergies experience sleep problems.

Some Light Reading
Some Light Reading
Since the weekend is upon us again, I thought I would offer up some sound, but light reading for the weekend to get you smiling. Of course, I will keep it parenting and vacuum focused though.
As for me, I'll be watching my Buckeyes again.

Nothing But the Facts, Ma'am...
Nothing But the Facts, Ma'am...
The team here at Halo hopes that you all had a safe and fun Labor Day weekend. While we were off getting one last breath of beach air or watching the first weekend of NCAA Football (Go Buckeyes!), the good folks over at Consumer Reports were working up another study. This one focused on the validity of vacuum companies' claims regarding their fight against allergens.
The overwhelming result? Some are great in the suction department, others are easy to maneuver and are lightweight. Some look futuristic and cool while others have fantastic attachments...
But the one thing they all had in common?
None of them employ ultraviolet light to kill dust mites, germs, bacteria, mold and the variety of creepy-crawlies in your carpeting and mattresses. They were not living up to all of their claims regarding their removal of allergens.
We hope that as the intelligent consumers you are, you don't take our claims as the only facts out there. We encourage you to research our competitors' vacuums and their effect on allergens and make your own decision.
